BUDDHA DAY (VESAK) which commemorates the Birth, Enlightenment, and the Parinibbana of the Buddha will be celebrated at the London Buddhist Vihara,

9.00         Hoisting the Buddhist Flag by H.E. Mrs. Kshenuka Seneviratne,

                the High Commissioner for Sri Lanka in the United Kingdom.

9.05         Traditional Oil Lamp Lit by H.E. Mrs. Kshenuka Seneviratne.

9.10         Administering Eight Precepts and Admonition (anusasana).

                by Ven. B. Seelawimala Nayaka Thera, Head of the Vihara.

9.20         Buddha Vandana (Paying Homage to the Buddha) .

9.30         Meditation - Instruction & Practice by Bhikkhuni Kusuma

10.00       Tea will be served.

10.15       “Paticca Samuppada - Cause and Effect” by Bhikkhuni Kusuma.

11.15       Buddhapuja led by Ven. Pandith W. Wimalajothi

11.30       Dana offering to Venerable monks, Upasakas and Upasikas observing Eight Precepts.

1.30pm    'The Contribution of Sri Lankan Bhikkhus to the Development of

                South East Asian Civilisations' by Dr. Hema Gunatilake

2.30         'The Three Signs of Being' by Mr. Anil Goonawardena, Barrister, Attorney (Sri Lanka)

4.00         'Nibbana' by Professor Richard Gombrich

5.00         Sinhala Sermon - by Ven. T. Bandula

6.30         “Bodu Bethi Gee (Buddhist devotional Songs)” by Dhamma school children & Parents
