Sri Lanka Cricketers at 'Cricket Ball 2011' in London - 26th June 2011

'Cricket Ball 2011' held on the 26th of June at the 5* Grange St Pauls Hotel was organized by the SLC UK Committee with the help of the committee members wives, Dr Ananda & Mrs Thevathasan & Mr Maha & Mrs Jayatileke . Attended by Mr P M Amza acting High Commissioner for Sri Lanka and the Sri Lankan Cricket team the 'Ball' was the highlight of the Sri Lankan social calendar. The hall was filled to capacity with around 450 guests who had the privilege of mingling with the cricketers. 

SLC UK Committee Chairman the former Sri Lanka Schoolboy Cricket Captain Asitha Jayaweera touched on the role of the UK committee which comprises of Deepal Ahangama, Ajith Dandeniya, Upali de Soyza & Faleel Marikkar. The main function of the 5 man committee is to be a point of contact for all the touring Sri Lankan cricket teams including the Womens and U19 teams. The committee also has a role to play in raising funds for Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Development and a Scholarship Scheme for young cricketers to experience playing cricket in English conditions. 

The music was provided by 'Exceed' one of the best Sri Lankan Bands in the UK. Guest artistes were Damian Wikkrematillake and Sohan Weerasinghe who were flown in from Sri Lanka courtesy of Sri Lankan Airlines.
