Sunil Perera's Baila Night-2011 Captivates London
By Janaka Alahapperuma

Baila Night-2011 organised by popular baila singer Sunil B.Perera mesmerised the London crowd on a chilled day on 03 December 2011. The event was over crowded by enthusiastic music fans and a full house thoroughly enjoyed the Baila night at Bridge Park Community Centre. Unfortunately, for health and safety reasons on the part of Brent Borough Council, many eager fans were not admitted in to the hall. Performing in his own show in London was one of Sunil Perera's dreams since his final round appearance in the Derana London Star competition held last year.

The Baila Night was filled with singing, dancing and entertainment with variations to a large extent. Among the guests singers Sanath Udugama, Christopher Liyanage, Dimuthu Thilakaratne, Sunil Wimalasiri, Hemanth Kumara, Chandana Fonseka, Eranda Wickramasinghe, Manel Ponnamperuma, Sisira and Natasha entertained the crowd. The Sky High band headed by Manju Munasinghe provided the music which captured the rhythm and beat and the young girls from Madhu Marasinghe's dancing group added extra colour and glamour to the event. Asiri Bandara was the compère. Two senior officials from the Sri Lanka High commission were also in attendance as Chief Guests and attended by many invited guests those who have supported in many ways towards the success of the Baila Night.

After the event Sunil Perera said that organising an event of this magnitude was not an easy task. Yet he stood together with his family and friends to face this challenge and make first ever Baila Night a successful musical evening.

The event was a huge success and let’s hopes we see Sunil in London again soon.
