At the kind invitation of Venerable Phalagama Somaratana, Head of Thames Buddhist Vihara and General Secretary of Sri Kalyani Samagri Dharma Maha Sangha Sabha, The President of Sri Lanka, His Excellency Mahinda Rajapaksha accompanied by the Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksha visited Gampaha Vidayaravinda Piriven Rajamaha Viharaya to pay their respect to The Most Venerable Mahanayaka Thera of the vihara, who is now one hundred two years old. Having seen and witnessed the charitable work done at the Pirivena, the president expressed his appreciation of the monumental contribution made by Ven.Pahalagama Somaratana Nayaka Thera in providing a modern fully equipped orphanage for children.
