With the blessing of perfect weather for cricket at the
scenic Grists Ground of Tiffin School in East Molesey
Craders Captain Dhanushka Walpitagamage elected to bat after
winning the toss on a fairly good strip for batting.
Crusaders scored 168 for 6 against Maristonians competent
bowling attack Ashan Davinda scored 40, Regie Siriwardena
32, Danshka Walpitagamage 25, Asushka Gunawardena 18,
Chamara Madhusanka 11, Dushan Fernando 12 (Rukshan 1 wicket,
Jiva Lambert 1 , Eransha Fernandopulle 2, Damith 1, Chaminda
1). Maristonians in reply scored 138 runs for 8 wickets.

wicket) . Man of the match award went to Danushka
Walpitagama of HCC, Best Bowler to Eransha Fernandopulle of
MSC and Best Batsman to Ashan Devinda of HCC. Crusaders won
the match by 30 runs for the first time in the history of
Battle of the Lagoons in the UK.
Other highlights included kids events, men’s and women’s Tug
of War, Musical Chairs, Football match, a volleyball match
and other interesting entertainment. The day was made more
interesting by entertainment provided by Sunset’s Sunil
Fernando and Exceed’s Praveen Karunasena, Andre Martinez and
Lyon Martinez. To complement the event an excellent BBQ ,
Lumpraise lunch and all sorts of thirst quenching drinks and
drinks considered as essential as ‘Naga Salang = Papara
Band’ for a big match were available in plenty.
