2011 Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebration was held by Buddhist Cultural Community Centre Letchworth (BCCL) on 16th April 2011. The distinguish guests were The Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in UK His Excellency Mr.P.M.Amza and Mrs.Amza, The Chairman of North Herts District Council Mr.David Levett and Mrs.Levett and the guest speakers were Dr.Sunil Kariyakarwana Buddhist Lay Chaplain, M.O.D UK and Venerable Dr.Kabalewe Sirisumana Thero, Head of the Buddha Vihara, Plaistow, London. The celebration commenced by lighting the traditional oil lamp and observing the five precepts. Highlights of the event comprised with traditional Sri Lankan music and dancing followed by various sports activities. The guests were specially entertained by the well known Sri Lankan entertainer and Artist, Kopi Kade Banda, Mr.Saman Gunawardane. The event was well attended by Sri Lankans living in The UK and local residence. Venerable monks of Letchworth Buddhist Temple Ven.Nallure Sangha Rathana Thero, Most Ven. Dediyawala Wimala Thero & B.C.C.L committee members wish to extend their appreciation for all those who attended the event and extending their support for making this event a great success and look forward for their continued support in the future. |
