A Pirith Chanting Ceremony and Almsgiving were organized by the Sri Lanka High Commission in London, 19th and 20th November respectively, with the cooperation of Sri Lanka Freedom Party London Branch and the British Sri Lanka Friendship Association, to invoke blessings on the President and the people of Sri Lanka, on the assumption of the second term of office by H.E. the President Mahinda Rajapaksa. 

Ven. Bogoda Seelawimala thero, Chief Incumbent of the London Buddhist Vihara and other Buddhist monks representing Sri Lankan Buddhist temples in the UK attended the two events. A large number of Sri Lankans living in the UK also gathered at the High Commission premises to join this special event.
