Protest rally in front of the Sri Lanka High commission - 19th November 2010

Report & Pictures by Campaign for Democracy in Sri Lanka

Despite the cold weather and the fact that it was a working day, the protest began at 2pm and lasted till 4.30pm at the front of the Sri Lanka High commission on the 19th November 2010.

Protestors from all over the UK gathered at the venue, regardless of ethnicity or religion, demanding the Sri-Lankans government to safeguard the values of democracy and re-instate law and order to the land.

Protestors wore black attire while shouting anti-government slogans and demanding anti-release of the D.N.A leader and retired Sri-Lankans Army commander, General Sarath Fonseka unconditionally.

The Government highly criticised the protestors in the campaign due to improper behaviour such as harassing politicians of the oppositions and intimidation towards officials. It is very embarrassing to the Sri-Lankan president as there was not counter-activity or any pro-government elements.
