The Standing Adversary Council
for Religious Education (SACRE) with
members representing many faiths,
teachers and the London Borough of Croydon,
held their quarterly meeting at the
Thames Buddhist Vihara premises,
on Tuesday 15th June
2010. Head of the Thames Buddhsit Vihara,
Venerable Pahalagama Somaratana Chief Sangha Nayaka Thera,
while extending a very warm welcome to
all members, explained the nature of the
activities carried out at the Vihara,
which is open to the general public
interested in the study and practice of
Theravada Buddhism. He offered help and
support to SACRE and any input required
for the teaching of Buddhism as an
integral part of Religious Education. It
was the Croydon Councillor
Janet Marshall, previously participated
in Vesak (Buddha
Day) celebration and Sri Lankan New Year
Festival sponsored by the Thames
