The Hounslow
based Sri Lanka Janahanda Foundation,
which annually organises Sinhala-Tamil
New Year celebration, cultural and
musical events, social get-to gather
events, and provides assistance to the
needy in Sri Lanka, has laid down its
plans for its activities for this year.
The
President of the Foundation, Mr. Srilal
Dias, briefed the plans at a gathering
of Members and well-wishers of the
organisation held on 21st February at
the Hounslow Indian Community Hall,
Darby Road. Hounslow in Grater London.
Councillor Jagdish Sharma, Sri Lankan
Solicitor Ms. Surya Samaraweera and a SL
born businessman, Nanda Disanayake were
among the large gathering that attended
this event. The programmes for the year
were placed for discussion among those
present. Various suggestions put forward
are to be taken into consideration in
implementing the years’ activities.
Children who
performed cultural and musical events
last year were felicitated at the event
and awarded certificates of appreciation
with gifts. Mr. Jagdish Sharma, who has
been a source of encouragement to the
Foundation since its inception in the
year 2005, while addressing the
gathering referred to the various
initiatives undertaken and complimented
the President and Members for their
enthusiasm in serving the community. Ms.
Surya Samaraweera, the adviser of the
Foundation, outlined in detail the
various activities and steps taken by
the Foundation for the benefit of Sri
Lankans living in the UK and the needy
in Sri Lanka.

addressing the gathering solicited the
co-operation of everyone in carrying out
the activities for the year.The AGM
agreed to extend present office-bearers
tearm for another year with new comers.
The event ended with a delicious Sri
Lankan dinner and music enjoyed by all.
