Ex-Service personnel
from all over the UK attended the Sri
Lanka Ex Service Person's Association UK
(SLESPA UK) Family Gathering at Hampton
by Hilton Hotel in Corby,
Northamptonshire on 30th and
31st January 2010.
Guests were met with
traditional Sri Lankan refreshments on
arrival at the hotel and spent a few
hours mingling. The evening
entertainment was kicked off by
traditional Sri Lankan and Hindi dances
by Kashmi Pallewatha, ex-Navy, backed by
Sky High band. Sky High gave their usual
top class performance bringing the
guests to their feet within minutes
after the sumptuous dinner. Welcome
speeches were delivered by President
SLESPA UK Capt(rtd) Mahen Abeysekara and
Vice Patron SLESPA UK Brigadier Nirmal
Dharmaratne, Defence Advisor to the Sri
Lanka High Commission UK. The host was
Capt(rtd) Chanaka Dissanayake.
Official business was
on the agenda the following day when
SLESPA UK members met to discuss current
and future activities and events for the
association.
