Mr. Wimal Weerawansa addressed Sri Lankan expatriates in UK

The chairman of National Freedom Front (JNP) Mr. Wimal Weerawansa said in London that the efforts of some treacherous cliques to fulfill their petty objectives by creating dissensions among war heroes who saved the motherland from LTTE terrorism should be defeated from its inception. He expressed those views at a meeting of Sri Lankan expatriates held at Harrow Leisure Centre in London on 18th October. This meeting was held jointly by the UK branches of the National Freedom Front and the Sri Lanka Freedom Party. About 300 Sri Lankan expatriates participated in the meeting.

He further said that the mandate given in 2005 is the mandate to save the country. The expectations that the people wished in 2005 are now fulfilled. The LTTE terrorism is eliminated and peace has been restored. Even before four years lapsed from the mandate, all that promises have been fulfilled. Five months have elapsed up to now since the end of operations. However, the nation’s hand which had the ‘staff’ to run the victorious race to annihilate tiger terrorists need the ‘staff’ to jumpstart the next giant race. Quite contrary, the gang of traitors attempts today to give a bowl of poison to the nation’s hand. They are now trying to give to the nation’s hand which once held ‘the staff of victory’, a bowl of poison.

It is the forth coming presidential and general elections which would give the ‘staff’ to the nation’s hand to jumpstart the next giant leap of our nation. In 2005, people handed over that “staff’ to save this country, in the same manner, people should now hand over the same ‘staff’ to run the race of nation building.

The imperialist forces have realized that with that new mandate, our country would approach an era that would never be backtracked. Therefore those vicious forces are now trying an approach similar to “chopping the pig’s flesh on the pig’s back” to destroy our country (viz. they use our own people to destroy the country)
It is due to this conspiracy that those who insulted war heroes then, are now shedding crocodile tears for them. Those treacherous forces blackmailed General Sarath Fonseka saying he does not fit even to lead the Salvation Army and said “any bull can wage war” and further belittled the victorious march in the east saying “Thoppigala is a jungle”. They further ridiculed the victorious march saying that forces were marching “ Madawachchi” instead of going to “Killinochchi” and “Pamankada” instead of going to “ Alimankada”. They tried to bring people onto streets during operation period to divert the attention of the nation by launching “pot and pan banging’ campaign. Also they tried to bring people onto roads through “vehicle noise’ campaign. Other groups initiated workers’ strike campaigns. They brought students’ protests to the Temple Trees. In this manner, at the time when the military operations against the LTTE terrorism had reached a critical and decisive stage, they took all direct and indirect efforts to divert the military operations and thereby save the LTTE and it is strange that they are now shedding crocodile tears today. What those treacherous gangs are trying to achieve?

Those vicious forces are trying to create dissentions among the members of forces using them as cat’s paw, to split the patriotic forces at an election and thereby create confusions in the minds of the patriotic people, so that the end outcome would be to paving the way for Ranil Wickramasignhe. It is an approach similar to “destroying a tree using another tree” or “chopping the pig’s flesh on the pig’s back”. The American ambassador in Colombo is a leading figure in these operations. They try to install a “puppet government’ which is subservient and obedient to them in Sri Lanka. That conspiracy is being launched now. Therefore, today, there is a huge responsibility for the patriotic forces to shoulder. It is our responsibility and duty to abort and crush those treacherous conspiracies before the birth.

The imperialist forces have realized that it is not possible to destabilize the country without LTTE. So, they are trying to destabilize the country through this type of political conspiracies. They know that the country is rising economically and waking up. The fastest growing stock market is now in Sri Lanka. Day by day our economy is leaping ahead. That is the reason why those imperialist forces are now trying to destabilize the country again. This political conspiracy has been launched for that purpose. They are trying to achieve that objective by splitting forces and war heroes. In some countries they use the judiciary for this purpose. Yet in other countries they use the military forces. So, in Sri Lanka, they try out it by creating splits in the forces. Therefore it is extremely essential that such attempts should be stopped at the birth itself. Our duty is to save and add value to the sacrifices that our forces made in saving our motherland.
