Vesak celebrations of
the Letchworth Buddhist Vihara were held at the Vihara
and at the Mrs. Howard Memorial hall, North Way South,
Letchworth, on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th May 2009.
This event was organized by the Letchworth Buddhist
Community Centre under the guidance of the chief
incumbent of the Vihara Venerable Nahalle Rahula,
Venerable Wahumuwe Wijayawansa Nayake Thero, Venerable
Great Britain Kassapa Thero and Venerable Nallure
Sangharathana Thero.
Observance of Eight precepts by the devotees, alms
giving, Dhamma talks and discussions, singing of
devotional songs, a ‘panel’ Dhamma discussion led by Dr.
Jayantha Rathnayake and 'Dansela' (free food stall)
organised by the members from Bedford were some of the
main activities of the celebrations. Hiring of the hall
for the celebration was sponsored by Mr & Mrs. Sampath
