A Day
called The Rana Viru Commemoration Day
dawned on 07th June 2008 in selfless
gratitude to remember police, armed personnel and
civilians who sacrificed their lives for the protection
of the Sri Lankan Nation. Sri Lankan patriots especially
living abroad lovingly lit lamps in the evening in
solidarity with the heroic guardians of The nation.
Members of Dhamma Nikethanaya Buddhist Centre in
Letchworth UK held a
special pooja to remember all those who sacrificed their
lives in the name of the motherland and to invoke
blessings on the President and the government, living
guardians in The Police and Armed forces and civilians
who are victims of the war in Sri Lanka.
After
lighting candles, burning incense and offering flowers
and medicinal drinks to the Buddha and sacred objects of
veneration, Bodhi Tree and Relics of Buddha, all
devotees observed a minute’s silence to release their
good wishes for peace in Sri Lanka. Special Seth Pirith
Chanting to bless the protection in everyway closed the
day’s pooja with a universal compassion meditation wish
“May the light of compassion dispel the darkness of
hatred, dilution and ignorance and illuminate the minds
and hearts with love and brotherhood so that everyone
can enjoy living in peace, joy and harmony.”
Letchworth Dhammma Nikethanaya Buddhist Centre wishes to
render its appreciation to all those who took part in
this worthy couse in many ways. May peace and
brotherhood be upon our motherland! |
