Sanjika Perera has been appointed the new Director UK and Ireland of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau

Sanjika joins the team after a three year position at Eastman Kodak, where he worked as Country Business Manager for Sri Lanka and the Maldives.  Prior to this, Sanjika worked as Head of Sales in personal banking for HSBC and Hayleys Ltd in Sri Lanka, in various managerial roles.   

Sanjika a marketing practitioner by profession  is a Chartered Marketer of the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK (CIM) of which he is an active member.  He has also been an office bearer and a board member on the regional board of CIM Sri Lanka Office for over 3 years. His involvement with the institute goes back over a decade. 
 
With over 10 years experience in marketing and management in his home country, where he obtained a Masters in Business Administration, Sanjika brings an in depth knowledge and understanding of Sri Lanka to the UK travel industry.  Sanjika will be working with key travel trade partners to support and develop the sales and marketing of Sri Lanka Tourism within the UK. Sri Lanka Tourism will work initially on a project basis with McCluskey International to raise the trade and consumer profile amongst the UK and Irish media. Ensuring there is an accurate understanding of the situation within Sri Lanka will also be imperative to Sanjika.  

Sanjika Perera comments: “I am delighted to take up this post in what is a very challenging and exciting time for Sri Lanka.  I feel extremely privileged to be given the opportunity to work and expand the beautiful isle’s presence in the UK and Irish markets. I realise the importance of the travel trade for Sri Lanka and will be spending much of my efforts working with our travel trade partners.”
 
Also joining Sanjika in the UK office will be Mr Nabeel Shareef in the newly created role of Marketing Manager. Mr Shareef formerly worked at Stella Travel.  

Sanjika Perera will be taking over the role from Jean-Marc Flambert, who after three years is moving into the private sector.
