Recently Venerable
Bogoda Seelawimala Thero Head of London
Buddhist Viharaya appointed as Chief
Sanganayake of Great Britain by the Head of
Malwaththa Chapter at Sri Dhalada Maligawa in
Kandy.
Ven. Seelawimala Thero left London to receive
the 'Akthapaththra' and later Venerable Thero
was felicitated by His Excellency The President
of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees,
Colombo. Venerable Dr.Bellanwila Wimalarathana
Nayaka Thero, Head of Bellanwila Raja Maha
Viharaya,Ven.Aluthgama Dhammananda Nayaka
Thero,Ven,Pallanthara Sumanajothi Nayaka Thero
also participated on that occasion at Temple
Trees.
Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama, private
secretary of the President Mr Lalith Weerathunga
and many other dignitaries were present to
witness the occasion.
Ven. Bogoda Seelawimala Thero, one of highly
respectable Buddhist monks among the British
Buddhist community and Sri Lankan community in
the UK was appointed as the head of London
Buddhist Vihara by the Mahabodhi Society,
Maligakanda, Colombo-10 after the passing away
of Most Ven. Dr Medagama Vajiragnana Nayaka
Thero last year.
